Astralux is committed to the research and development of technologies that will accelerate the incorporation of wide bandgap semiconductors into the opto-electronics and communications marketplace. Subsequent commercialization of those technologies will be achieved using an incubator-based approach to the creation of complementary companies.

Astralux is developing a portfolio of core materials and device technologies that are necessary for high-power, high-temperature, and high-frequency operations by focusing on:

- Development of new substrate materials
- Developing new techniques to lower the cost of current substrates
- Demonstrating wide bandgap transistor technology
- Extending spectral response in x-rays
