Dow Chemical to build LED, Display Components Plant in South Korea

August 19, 2010... Dow Chemical Co., the top U.S. chemicals manufacturer, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the governments of South Chungcheong Province of South Korea and the city of Cheonan to build the factory for light-emitting diodes and display panel components. The facility will be located in the city of Cheonan, 92 kilometers south of Seoul.

The company plans to invest US$45 million to build a plant producing key electronic materials. Construction for the plant will begin in October. Dow said that the plant would be completed in 2015.
