February 20, 2010... Daktronics Inc. of Brookings, S.D., announced that it was recently chosen by Pierce College in Woodland Hills, Calif., to design, manufacture and install a new three-sided marquee display.

“We selected Daktronics because it was the best quality sign available in our price range,” said Larry Kraus, Associate Vice President of Administrative Services at Pierce College. “It is the industry standard, and after viewing a number of different displays, we found it to be the highest quality, brightest display with the best resolution.”

The three full-color light emitting diode (LED) video displays will measure approximately 6 feet 6 inches high by 12 feet wide, and feature pixels on 20mm spacing. The marquee will be able to reach many different campus and community members promoting events and programs campus-wide, recognize academic and athletic achievements and show time, temperature, weather forecasts and other public service announcements.

“Pierce College sits on 426 acres surrounded by a busy metropolis and serves about 23,000 students in Southern California,” Kraus said. “With the new electronic display, we are looking forward to getting more information out to our community about all our news and events, and encourage them to get even more involved with us.”

The display will be at the intersection of Winnetka Avenue and Victory Boulevard, on the corner of campus. It will feature high-powered graphic images and effective text messages that will catch the eyes of every passing car and pedestrian.

“We are happy to be working with Pierce College to provide them with video displays fitting their needs,” Marlo Jones, Daktronics Sales, said. “The displays will help build a more connected university community and provide opportunities to welcome students and visitors.”

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
